Submission GuidelinesPlease mark your post with one of these flairs below once your submission has been made. I don't think so. There's some information on TFTCentral about the LM270WQA and LM315WQ1 panels from LG, which don't have a release date yet (at least I can't find one.) They are 165Hz 1440p IPS panels.
The former is a 27' panel, the latter a 31.5'. The only information I can find is that they are presumably going in production sometime this month. They might get advertised as 1ms IPS panels.Note that the monitors that use the AOU panels never stated 'IPS'. They always either say 'IPS-type', or 'AHVA'. AUO does not have a license for the IPS trademark. Yes, it is well known that LG owns IPS, samsung has PLS. No need to bring that up.If you are familiar with Asus marketing, they don't differentiate based on trademarks.
If the panel is IPS type, they call it IPS. Just go look at their old version of PG279Q, says same thing. Same for the MG279Q, same thing.
Says IPS panel.Like I said, this is 100% an AUO panel, as nobody else currently has panels in production with these specs. LM270WQA production was listed as Dec 18 at the soonest. So there is absolutely zero chance that this monitor contains anything besides an AUO panel. Since Like I said, nobody else currently produces them. This Z version is likely the same panel, however their manufacturing process has been refined and likely results in higher quality due to less defects.
This would explain why the price dropped on this new display. If this display contained a brand new never released LG 1440p 144hz panel, they wouldn't update a previous sku with simply a 'z' addition and a price drop with zero press release. If this contained a new panel, Asus would be marketing the hell out of it, brand new model number and would carry a premium over the previous version. But none of that happened because the change is minor. Like I said, this is 100% an AUO panel, as nobody else currently has panels in production with these specs. LM270WQA production was listed as Dec 18 at the soonest. So there is absolutely zero chance that this monitor contains anything besides an AUO panel. Since Like I said, nobody else currently produces them.Wait, the monitor is out? If yes, then indeed it's AOU.
But I thought this monitor is not out yet? Which is why it seemed plausible that it might come out once the new LG panel is out. I personnally picked up the C27HG70 from samsung. It is not gsync but it supports hdr and has less banding than msi mpg27cq and dell s2716dg.
Better colors and contrast too. The only problems I see for this screen: freesync (and might not be compatible with nvidia new gsync compatibility to freesync) and backlight uniformity problem on black. Since every single 1440p monitor suffer from bad backlight uniformity I cant conaider it a problem. Plus VA glow is less important than IPS glow.Hope it helps in your choice!.
